Next Monday (21.03.22) the Consumer Council for Water (CCW) are launching an awareness raising campaign called #YourWaterYourWay which aims to inform people of the extra free support available from water companies.
Covid-19 and the recent storms have served as a reminder for us all that people’s circumstances can change rapidly along with their need for support. Water companies understand this and offer extra free help to customers so that whatever their circumstances they can have appropriate access to services. This free additional support is known as Priority Services or PSRs. They are for people who need extra help and allow water companies to provide tailored support and respond quickly to those particular needs, especially during water emergencies such as loss of water supply, boil water notices, or flooding. Despite the help on offer, almost half of all customers in England and Wales are unaware this help exists.
The Consumer Council for Water annual tracking report revealed only 44% of water customers are aware of PSRs. The percentage of people on the register is lower still at 3.61% of household connections.
