On Thursday 16th August the Planning Committee at Havering Council will decide the fate of Dover's Green, a cherished community space in the heart of South Hornchurch. This is the third time a developer has attempted to concrete over the area at the behest of Havering Council, and the third time that the community has come together with the support of Jon Cruddas MP to oppose the plans.

On the 30th June 2017 Woolbro Homes, which hoped to develop 30 two and three-bed houses on Dovers Green in South Hornchurch, withdrew its application. This is fantastic news for the residents surrounding Dovers Green and is proof of what can be accomplished when the community comes together.

Green spaces are at the heart of every community. They represent a space where people have precedence, a space where they are free from cars and concrete, where the eye is drawn to trees and skylines, not concrete and glass. A safe space for children to play, families to congregate, converse and communities to learn about each other.
