£17m Health Centre Announced for Hornchurch

The Health Centre which is planned for the former St. George's Hospital site in Hornchurch received a £17m cash injection this week bringing the facility one step closer for the community.

Jon Cruddas MP who represents Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park ? the latter of which borders the proposed site has welcomed this news saying "whilst the £1.8bn funding boost from the government doesn't even scratch the surface of what is needed to restore the NHS nationally, I am very pleased that some of this investment will reach residents in my constituency."

In the last few years south Havering has seen a reduction in available health services which has left many vulnerable residents having to travel all the way to Queen's Hospital. The proposed new facility at St George's Park will help alleviate the pressure on existing services and boasts GP services, outpatient services, a centre of excellence for elderly people, diagnostics hub and additional community space.

Jon added: "there is a lot of development planned for Havering in the coming years and we will need state of the art infrastructure to support new families and an ageing population. I welcome the plans for the centre which should transform the standard of healthcare in the area."
