Girls Do Science Family Fun Day

On Saturday 18th August from 11am until 3pm the East London Women's Museum will be hosting a free family event at Dagenham Library, celebrating women's contribution to science, technology, engineering, maths and manufacturing.

The event will be full of inspiring talks, games, activities and demonstrations exploring then and now looking at ?munitionettes', the women working on the assembly line during the First World War and female scientists through the years. The organisers will also be offering information to young women about studying and working in STEM.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "it's great to see local events like this being organised. The East London Women's Museum are doing a great job of tapping into local stories and our shared history to encourage the next generation of young women. Women are currently underrepresented in STEM workplaces and it is important that we address this. I hope that the event goes well and that residents will take the time to drop in to Dagenham Library and find out more."
