Helen Dickens, Assistant Director, Diabetes UK said: "Those with diabetes are at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus, and everyone at Diabetes UK is working very hard to make sure we can support everyone who needs help and advice. We want you to know that we're here for the 4.8 million people with the condition across the UK."

Constituents can also get specialist information and advice on all aspects of living with diabetes through the Diabetes UK Helpline. The service can help with answers, support or just to talk to someone who knows about diabetes - on 0345 123 2399 or helpline@diabetes.org.uk. The helpline is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm.

Jon Cruddas commented: "the situation is changing daily, and it is very important that those with pre-existing medical conditions stay up-to-date with guidance that is right for them. I commend the work organisations such as Diabetes UK are putting in to support those most at risk and to keep people informed."
