On Tuesday 16th of October Havering Council announced it’s reviewing for the future of the Chafford Sports Complex in Rainham. The Chafford Sports Complex is currently owned by the Harris Academy in Rainham, formerly Chafford School, but is run by the council’s ‘Everyone Active.’
Havering Council is launching an eight-week consultation from Tuesday, October 16 until Monday, December 10. Council funding for the site is due to finish in December 2018, and the council are claiming that there is no funding for the complex in the council’s base budget.
The Chafford Sports Complex is in the heart of Rainham’s community and is used daily by residents not only in Rainham but across Havering for various sports sessions. Jon Cruddas MP has received emails from Rainham residents expressing their upset that the complex could potentially close.
This matter clearly means a lot to local residents, which is why Jon Cruddas MP is urging people to complete the online consultation to make sure their voices are heard.
You can complete the online consultation HERE. The consultation closes in December 2018.
