Barking & Dagenham and Havering Young Londoners Local Network

The Barking & Dagenham and Havering Young Londoners Local Network is a new project funded by the Mayor of London and delivered by Barking and Dagenham CVS. The network has two aims:

      • To build the capacity and ability of young people and organisations working with young people to develop policy and services for children and young people.
      • To provide and enable young people to express and share their views, opinions and concerns on matters of interest and importance to them.

Jon Cruddas MP has welcomed the new project saying: "initiatives like this are crucial at a time when serious youth crime is rising across London. I'm encouraging young people and organisations in my constituency that work with young people to get involved with the Young Londoners Local Network."

There is an information briefing session for the new network being held on Thursday 23 May from 6pm-8pm at the YMCA, Havering.

In addition to the launch of the network, round 2 of the Young Londoners Fund has opened and community groups, organisations and charities can apply for funding. The fund was established last year as a response to rising violent crime in London, to try and support initiatives that direct young people down positive paths in life.

Jon said: "The Mayors Young Londoners Fund was a huge success last year and I think organisations across Dagenham and Rainham could really benefit from applying for funding this time round."
