Asda Foundation Supporting Local Charities

At the end of May Dagenham United Charity, Box Up Crime and EMH Hawks U8's football club were nominated to be part of the Asda Foundation's brand-new Green Token Giving online voting scheme. Customers may have seen the green token scheme in store, but to make voting easier following lockdown online voting is now possible.

Each year, the Asda Foundation invests over £1.4m to more than 4000 good causes through Green Token Giving. The cause with the most online votes will receive a £500 donation while second and third place each receive £200.

Jon Cruddas MP said: "The Green Token Giving scheme is a fantastic way to support local charities and the work they do. The first prize of £500 can make all the difference to a small charity and I commend the work of all those involved in the vote.

"I know that my office manager Margaret Mullane, and local councillors such as Peter Chand, Lee Waker and Eileen Keller will be championing Dagenham United Charity as they are on the board, but I want to wish all three of the local charities the best of luck. I hope residents will take this opportunity to find out more about their work in the area before casting their vote."

Voting closes on 31st July and the winner of the £500 will be announced shortly after. Supporters/individuals are able to vote once every seven days.
