Social Mobility Foundation

Applications have just become available for the Social Mobility Foundation's 2015 internship and university preparation programmes. The Social Mobility Foundation runs a number of completely free programmes that place high-achieving and motivated Year 12 students in professional internships in London. Students who qualify and are accepted will receive an internship placement in one of eleven professional pathways, career workshops, and university application support. The programmes are designed to give less-privileged students exposure to the professional world and to help them find a path to university.

Students in the Borough will benefit from these programmes tremendously. With the city centre within commuting distance, students from Dagenham and Rainham should make the best use of their proximity to London and the opportunities afforded in the city. As the programmes are completely free, there is no reason that Dagenham and Rainham's best students should not participate, regardless of their family's financial situation.

Jon Cruddas, MP for Dagenham and Rainham, commented: "I fully support and appreciate the work that the Foundation is doing for underprivileged students. Education is incredibly important, particularly in today's economy, and the skills and contacts brought by an internship can be immensely helpful in building a career. The programmes offered by the Foundation are a fantastic opportunity for the students in my constituency. I fully encourage as many students as possible from across the constituency to apply and participate."

The application is open from now until Monday, December 22nd at 9am.
