LBBD Council have launched a ‘Save our Streets’ campaign in order to address the growing issue of potholes and road maintenance in the borough. Local residents who are fed-up with deteriorating road conditions are being called upon to sign the petition and support the campaign.

Across the constituency many residents have contacted Jon asking how they can help with regard to the Beam Prison Campaign. We are pleased to announce that ‘Campaign packs’ are now available to local residents wishing to do some canvassing and petition collecting down their street.

This year’s Volunteer Week focuses on saying a big ‘thank-you’ to all those who volunteer their time to help others and improve local communities. Jon Cruddas has a vast volunteer network that regularly help out across the constituency and he is taking this chance to say a huge thank you to all those who offer up their time to help locally. 

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham is urging those struggling through tough financial circumstances to turn to Liberty Credit Union. The credit union is a community-based savings organisation offering responsible lending schemes and financial advice on savings.

A petition has now been raised to oppose the selling off of the Crown Post Office at Dagenham Heathway. Jon Cruddas MP and the Post Office workers are urging local residents to support the cause. You can sign the petition via the link in this article.

In response to last week’s events in Woolwich, the Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council Liam Smith released a statement condemning the attacks. The local MP Jon Cruddas is in full support of the statement, agreeing that incidents such as this need to be tackled head on.

A group of five media and graphic design students from Barking and Dagenham College have been experiencing what it’s like to produce a short film, thanks to a special commission. The commission saw them film, conduct interviews and take all the photography at a prestigious event on Tuesday 14th May.

The unemployment statistics for April are now in. They highlight a rise in employment locally by 0.2%, whilst this is positive news there is still much work to be done to ensure investment and job opportunities keep coming into the area.
